Article: Let’s Talk Trends 2020

Let’s Talk Trends 2020

At So Over It, we are constantly talking about upcoming fashion trends, keeping up with street style, and watching for new pieces from all our favourite designers. Some of our absolute favourite trends are forecasted for 2020 and we've made sure that the studio is stocked with incredible pieces so you can stay on trend and save some moula while you are at it! Read on for our guide to Spring 2020 Style.

Spring Trends 2020

Looking at the actual pattern maker’s take on 2020 trends is so exciting. We’re seeing everything from intentionally odd fits, to experimental trench designs, and no matter what theme the trend holds it is BOLD.

Spring Trends 2020

London Fashion Week was all about neon, fringe, and ruffles. In Milan we saw colourful leather and stunning metallic. In Paris we saw knit pieces and an entirely new take on lace. There was also some serious blasts from the past including, polka dots, the slouchy suit, 70’s disco collars, and psychedelic florals.

Neon

Neon Louboutins

We are ultra-neon obsessed! A hint of neon is the perfect statement piece, but in 2020, we see neon taking on a more aggressive role with suits, maxi dresses, coats, and shoes. At So Over It, we are crushing on neon shoes — from these men’s Prada sneakers to our collection of bold coloured Louboutins — we are fully stocked for your spring neon needs!

Colourful Leather

"There's no mistaking that leather — including vegan or faux — is the one material everyone's excited to work with next season."
— Marina Liao for Marie Claire

2020 Leather

From Bottega Veneta to Alexander McQueen, the runway was filled with colorful leather skirts, jackets, and tops and we're totally drooling! Be bold and wear two statement shades at once or take it back a notch and add a pair of denim. Whatever you decide, a colorful leather piece is a must have this spring.

Feminine Design

Feminine Style

Miu Miu, Richard Quinn, Valentino, and Dries Van Noten are using voluminous sleeves, ruffles, and rose prints to add a feminine touch to their collections. The “puffy sleeve” made a massive come back in 2019 and we are thrilled that it is here to stay in 2020. A voluminous sleeve with a pair of sleek trousers can make anyone look like they just stepped off the runway.

Feminine Design

Rose print dresses add a beautiful feminine element to the boldness of 2020, but we don’t think you have to choose delicate when choosing your pattern. Big, bold, and less conservative colors in this print add an amazing edge to an outfit. We’re fully onboard and aligned with 2020, so your roses should be BIG.

Disco

Disco Collars

No matter what style forecasting blog you read or what runway show you go to, you cannot escape the disco collar. This look is so much fun and can effortlessly take a simple, clean outfit to a funky and stylish one. Look for this collar on blouses, jackets, and blazers. RUN, don’t walk to find a disco collar for yourself; this is a closet must for when the ice melts.

Lace

Lace

Lace is blowing up for 2020 and designers are getting brilliantly creative, taking a classic staple and making it completely unique. There were full-length, lace dresses at Dior that were perfectly delicate. Junya Watanabe designed a lace dress worn under an edgy, cut-up, tan jacket. We love how these delicate pieces are being paired with straw bags and bold colors, creating a rustic, yet daring statement.

It looks like 2020 will be bold and innovative, but we’ll see a creative twist on past eras like the 70’s and 80’s. We absolutely love the femininity coming up and we’d definitely enjoy mixing a pretty rose patterned dress with a pair of masculine, chunky Doc Martens boots. At So Over It, we’re working hard to source the best timeless and trendy pieces for you. Follow us on Instagram and keep tabs our website for all the new things coming in daily. Stay stylish friends!
