Winter 2020 Trends

It’s easy to get swept away in the “Basic Girl” starter pack when it comes to fall and winter fashion. Pumpkin spiced lattes, plaid flannel and oversized coats have long loomed over us, pleading to be showcased on the gram. But this year is anything but basic. Although the winter trends coming out of Vogue, Harpers Bizarre and Elle all include some of our favourite staples, we’re seeing a shift in styles, daring us to free the edgy risk-taker we all have deep down inside. This year is NOT basic. So let’s take a look and have fun with our winter wardrobe. Here’s our favourite trends for the snowy season.

Winter Trends

Fringe

Fringe is an amazing trend because it adds a little pizazz to any outfit. A suede fringe jacket worn with a simple slip dress is very easy to put together and adds a little glam to your everyday outfit. Add a pair of western cowboy boots to this look and you’re in the running for a model off-duty label. This season we are seeing fringe in other creative ways as well. Self Portrait has included fringe in most of their dresses, which we adore and have added to all our holiday wish lists.

Neutral Tones

From Paris to Toronto, we’re seeing people walking the streets wearing beige trousers, tan cashmere sweaters and long, camel, leather coats. We don’t leave the house as much these days, so this is an easy transition look. Comfy neutrals do not mean you can’t get creative. We challenge you to add in another one of our favourite trends—the wide leg trouser and biker boot—to make this look a little more edgy and unique. Or make it simple with a textured vanilla handbag. We always feel very put together when we’re in a head-to-toe neutral outfit, so this trend is A-OK with us.

Biker

Tough, but make it chic. Leather and thick heeled masculine boots are absolutely everywhere this season. Leather with stud details and thick chunky heels turn your usual denim and leather jacket ensemble into a total badass fashionista look. This pair of heavy duty boots are so on trend and perfect for our harsh Northern winters.

Colourful Suits

Like last year, pant suits and skirt suit sets are all the rage again this season, but we are seeing a little difference this time around. For 2020, we’re seeing dramatic wide leg pant and major, colourful twists. You know we live for a good suit and a wide leg is one of our fave silhouettes. Pair this look with a masculine boot, kitten heel or white sneaker for ultimate trending vibes.

Slouchy Over the Knee Boots

Time to trade in your round toe and sock boots for a chic square toe or over the knee boot this winter. We love a good cowboy boot moment, so having a bit of western flare in your over the knee boot is double the trend. A good pair of boots can totally shift your outfit. Pair yours with a maxi dress and trench coat or be ultra on trend and tuck your trousers into your boot. Check out these Balenciaga beauties if you’re wanting to pull off a serious 70’s moment this season.
